Fly Lines

We only carry two (2) brands of fly lines, both which perform very well with use over time. We carry Rio and Scientific Angler. We are a mastery dealer for Scientific Angler and carry both the GPX and XPS floating lines. All these lines have AST (advanced shooting technology) throughout the lines. AST is integrated within the line coating to achieve a unique ‘dry’ slickness that keeps the line permanently slick and continuously clean. This patented process is exclusive to 3M Sci. Angler fly lines until the year 2021, so that there are no other lines on the market that compare. These lines stay cleaner and float higher for longer intervals since the dry slickness of AST prevents dirt and algae from clinging to the lines. The lines shoot better since the lines going through the guides are virtually friction-free. That means that they also cast further due to the minimum impediments.

SA Mastery GPX Floating Line

The best all-purpose Mastery Series Line with a supple coating to reduce memory, has advanced floatation properties and excellent shootability.

SA XPS Floating Line

These have a supple coating reducing memory and is the ideal line for cold waters and spring creeks. These lines have a subtle front taper that permits more delicate presentations.

Rio Nymph Line

Use the RIO Nymph line for nymph fishing under all fishing conditions, whether indicator, high stick or dead drift nymphing and terrestrials. Rated number one by Western professional guides for deep nymphing using strike indicators and long drag free drifts. The taper design, with both a long back taper and body for easy roll casting, mending and fly control, enhances casting weighted nymphs, indicators and big air-resistant flies. RIO’s new high floatation technology creates a super high floating tip that stays up under normal conditions. This high visibility tip is a built-in strike indicator which can be cut off without affecting the casting performance. The Nymph line has welded loops on both ends for easy rigging and fast leader changes. This line can be used with many fly fishing techniques, such as: • Drifting nymphs and egg patterns with indicators when fishing for steelhead and salmon; casting terrestrials and other big bugs, hoppers, stoneflies or streamers; upstream nymphing with bead heads and other weighted flies, as well as high stick nymphing;
• New Zealand’s South Island, where the angler has to cast into the strong downstream NW Canterbury winds of 30 mph (50 kph) and still get a good turnover;
• NZ’s Tongariro nymph technique, where the angler overhead or roll casts long distances with indicators and flies;
• Czech nymphing where the highly visible tip makes the slightest “stop” of the line very noticeable to the angler.

Rio Selective Trout Line

These unique weight forward and double tapers are designed especially for selective trout fishing in all weather conditions. The Selective Trout lines are designed for discerning anglers and technical fishing. The weight forward lines feature a long front taper for delicate presentations and an extended rear taper for effortless roll casting. RIO has reinvented the timeless double taper by slightly increasing the weight behind the front taper for easy turnover of the long front taper and leader. The Selective Trout line, ultra supple for delicate presentations and memory-free in winter, is the perfect choice for the most demanding conditions. Super slick, self-lubricating coldwater coating on a supple multifilament core makes accurate casts and delicate presentations easy.

Rio Grand Fly Line

The RIO Grand is state-of-the-art in fly line technology with distinctive benefits for the trout fly fisher. The tip floats extremely high due to RIO's proprietary manufacturing process, yet gives a smooth light delivery of even the smallest dry fly. The weight forward taper features a slightly heavier load to activate the faster modern fly rod, yet the rear taper is long enough for roll casting. The line is the product of RIO's SlickShooter™ Process and incorporates a supple coldwater, super slick, self-lubricating, dirt-resistant coating on a nylon multifilament core. This is the perfect line for wet or dry fly fishing. RIO has included a welded loop on the front end of the fly line to facilitate changing leaders. In all our tests we have found excellent turnover and presentation with this loop. When landing fish, it slides through the rod guides more easily than the customary nail knot. Traditionalists can cut this loop off and not compromise the taper.
